Back in October we had two lumps removed from Jack. Turns out they were both cancerous - and two different cancers to boot! Once was a Mast Cell Tumour and the other was a Basil Cell Carcinoma. They both had clean margins and off he went with a clean bill of health.
In the three months that have passed, he's lost almost a pound and has a new lump. Poor dude. We've run blood work to see if something else is going on and we'll schedule an appointment to remove the lump once we have the results. We suspect it will be another Basil Cell Carcinoma as it is in a similar location to the first one.
Lacey also has another lump starting. This one is on a front foot - the same one that is missing a toe. It's acting like the one on her back foot did - it is a large, firm lump when it swells and almost invisible when it isn't. Of course when I brought her to the vet, it wasn't visible - although it was that morning and later that night. Sigh. I'm pretty sure it is going to be another mast cell and we'll get it tested next week to confirm. It feels never ending. And this one will definitely require a trip to the CARE Centre and another skin graft due to the location.
I had plans to go down south for a fat bikejoring event at the end of February but I have a feeling that money will be going elsewhere at this point. But I haven't cancelled yet - maybe things aren't as bad I suspect.
